After an extended sleep, the Yeti has awoken to welcome athletes to another weekend of fast paced action and adventure!

BNWRA is proud to host its annual IceBreaker Tournament Saturday November 8 to Tuesday November 11, 2025.

For over 27 years, it has been the ‘season opener’ ringette event in the Lower Mainland. Each year we welcome over 40 teams and 700 players from across Canada. The goal of the tournament is to facilitate team bonding, sportsmanship and love for the game of ringette for all who are participating, spectating, coaching and volunteering. 

Funds raised by the event cover our tournament expenses, with additional revenues going directly back into the association to subsidize Come Try Ringette (CTR) sessions, power skating and ringette skills development lessons, coaching certifications, and scholarships for graduating athletes.

The IceBreaker provides an opportunity for newly formed teams to start bonding and to compete against teams that they would not normally compete against during the regular season.

2025 IceBreaker Tournament General Registration Information

The 2025 IceBreaker Tournament will run Saturday, November 8th - Tuesday, November 11th.

• U12 *** Tiering is new to U12 this season All U12 teams will register in same division and further information will be requested prior to pooling/scheduling
• U14 Club All Gender
• U14 Club Female Only
• U16 Club All Gender
• U16 Club Female Only
• U19 Club All Gender
• U19 Club Female Only
• Open/18+A
• Open/18+B
• Masters
• FUN1/FUN2 *** We will be hosting a mini tournament for FUN1/2 on a single day during the tournament weekend, the details still TBA. ALL REGISTRATIONS FOR FUN1/2 WILL SHOW AS WAITLISTED AND $0*** Once specific dates, times and cost are confirmed, you will be invited to register.

General Information

Fees:

FUN1/2 Mini: $TBD

U10/U12: $1050 - all teams will play 4 games, jamboree style

U14 -U19, Open A/B, Masters: $1200 - all teams will be play a minimum of 4 games.

Scheduling:

Teams can be scheduled to play at ANY time during these dates. Please ensure your players/goalies are available prior to registering. Requests for scheduling accommodation should be made only in extreme circumstances and will be considered at the sole discretion of Tournament Director Note:  Per RingetteBC policy 2.1, Item K, “Should a female coach also be participating in the event as a player, or coach and there is a scheduling conflict, the team will be permitted to play the game without a female coach on the bench.”  .

Team Information

As an early season tournament, BNWR recognizes that tournament entry deadlines may occur before teams have been fully formed. 

Important dates:

• Oct 11, 2025: Tournament registration closes
• Oct 24, 2025: Final rosters due in Ramp,

• Any changes to your team roster (including player pickup requests and staff changes) must be submitted to Ringette BC (RBC) using their online Team Adjustment form or Staff Adjustment Form. As this is a RBC sanctioned tournament, RBC must approve these changes in order for your adjusted roster to play at the tournament. Should your team make any unapproved (RBC) changes to the roster during the tournament, it may mean that your team will FORFEIT that game, regardless of the game outcome. NOTE: bench staff

For U12 teams, RBC requires that a team ordinal be provided and should you have to substitute players, an adjusted team ordinal must be provided. Given the change in U12 team formation for the 2025-2026 season, additional information may be requested of U12 teams to ensure meaningful competition.

Tournament Refund Policy:

All requests for tournament fee refunds must be made in writing to the attention of the IceBreaker Tournament Director (bnwrtournament@gmail.com).

• There will be a full refund less a $60 credit card processing fee for refund requests made to the Tournament Director prior to midnight (PST), October 11, 2025.
• There will be a 50% refund less a $60 credit card processing fee for refund requests made to the Tournament Director after midnight, October 11, 2025 and before midnight, October 20, 2025. 

• There will be no refund on or after October 21st, 2025.

After registration closing date, the Tournament Director will make a final determination of teams/divisions that we are able to host.  When deciding which divisions to accommodate, we consider ice and referee availability and the number teams registered in a division.  If there are an insufficient number of teams registered in a division for meaningful play, full refunds will be given.  If BNWR cannot accommodate the number of teams registered in a division, teams will be confirmed in order of registration.  Full refunds will be issued to teams that cannot be accommodated.

Cancellation of Tournament

In the event that the tournament is unable to proceed due to extreme weather events, public health orders or other reasons beyond the control of the tournament hosts, BNWR will return the team fees less $200 to cover  event merchandise  purchased for participants. BNWR We will connect with team managers to arrange for pickup or shipment of items.

Following your registration:

You will receive an auto-generated reply through RAMP acknowledging your registration. You will receive a further confirmation and request for additional information (e.g. signed codes of conduct) as soon as possible.
