The following is a more detailed description of major volunteering positions.

 

Description of duties

How many people needed

Who you will work most closely with

Tournament Chair

You will be the lead organizer of BNWR’s annual icebreaker tournament. This is a big role but you will have ample guidance from past chair and committee members.

One chair or two co-chairs who work closely together.  A committee will support you but one or a max of two people can be “in charge”.

Past tournament chair, volunteers forming the committee, BNWR ice allocator BNWR ref in chief, , sponsorship coordinator, social media coordinator, BNWR treasurer. 

Recruitment Co-ordinator

Your role is to develop and implement plans to recruit athletes aged 9 and below (focus on 7 and below).  Your role is to plan activities (for example, Come Try Ringette) and find ways to increase participation in such events. 

One coordinator.  

You will work with Community Event coordinator, VP Admin, Children’s Ringette Coordinator and other adult and youth volunteers needed to run the activities you plan. 

Sponsorship Coordinator

With guidance and examples, you will establish categories of sponsorship (and means of recognition) and find sponsors to provide financial or in-kind support to BNWR and/or the Ice Breaker tournament.  

One coordinator

Tournament chair, treasurer, equipment manager, VP admin

Social Media Coordinator

You will monitor RingetteBC and LMRL social media for appropriate messages to forward. You will create content;

  1. As requested by BNWR executive (e.g. to advertise/announce programs or events
  2. On your own initiative, using positive messaging and adhering to codes of conduct, you will share messages at least once a week about a BNWR team, accomplishment, event, etc, ensuring all BNWR teams, are recognized in a season.

One coordinator.

** this role may be carried out by a senior youth with some additional oversight.  

Director of Information Management, Tournament Committee Chair, Recruitment coordinator, Community Event coordinator, Director of Player Development.

Community Event Coordinator

You will register BNWR to participate in at least three community events during the year, at least one in each of Burnaby and New Westminster, typically the Hyack festival and Hats Off days in Burnaby.  You will take the lead in finding volunteers to participate in these events to engage with community and create contact lists for persons interested in ringette

One coordinator

Recruitment coordinator, VP Admin, team managers

Equipment coordinator

You will maintain an inventory of BNWR equipment and oversee distribution and return of jerseys, coaching equipment and other BNWR property.  

One coordinator

VP on ice, children’s ringette coordinator, community events coordinator, tournament chair, team coaches and managers.
