2024 IceBreaker Tournament: November 8-11, 2024

Registration opens September 26, 2024!

The Yeti returns November 8-11, 2024

BNWRA is proud to host its annual IceBreaker Tournament November 8-11, 2024. For over 26 years, it has been the ‘season opener’ ringette event in the Lower Mainland. Geared towards club level (or ‘B’ division) teams, we welcome over 40 teams and 700 players from across Canada annually. The goal of the tournament is to facilitate team bonding, sportsmanship and love for the game of ringette for all who are participating, spectating, coaching and volunteering.

Funds raised by the event cover our tournament expenses, with additional revenues going directly back into the association to subsidize Come Try Ringette (CTR) sessions, power skating and ringette skills development lessons, coaching certifications, and scholarships for graduating athletes.

As the first ringette tournament in the 2024 season, the IceBreaker provides an opportunity for newly formed teams for the season to compete against teams that they would not normally compete against during the regular season.

Tournament divisions

This season, we are excited to include the following divisions for club teams :

  • FUN3/U10 (fee: $975)
  • U12 (fee: $975)
  • U14 Female (fee: $1075)
  • U14 All-gender (fee: $1075)
  • U16 Female (fee: $1075)
  • U16 All-gender (fee: $1075)
  • U19 Female (fee: $1075)
  • U19 All-gender (fee: $1075)
  • Open 18+ (fee: $1075)
  • Masters (fee: $1075)

The IceBreaker tournament is offering both Female Club and Club (all-gender) divisions to align with the changes in the Ringette BC (RBC) competition framework for the 2024/25 season, with a minimum of three teams needed for a division to proceed. Teams must register for their declared division and category. A team may participate in a different category, given that their roster meets the requirements of the category of participation at the event, a team in that category is not being displaced, and their category is not offered.

Teams will be accepted on a first-come basis. Since the tournament is so early in the season, we are unable to determine which divisions will be hosted until all teams are formed and tiered. When deciding which divisions to accommodate, we consider ice availability, the demand for the division, and official (referee) availability. Teams will not be confirmed until tiering is completed but priority for acceptance will be given based on the date registered, and the division/pool formation.
